A Better Education found on the Border of Burma and Thailand
In 2007, it was remarkably that i came to know about the Burmese immigrant education on the border of Burma and Thailand.It really was unintentionally that i figured out with a notice of my elder sister who recently went to Thailand for a better job opportunity at that time. She passed me a message that if i would join a better education.since i am attached to her within my life time, i decided to go for it for imagining staying with my sister.Through this experience on the border of Burma and Thailand, i found out there are some services of education offering for the new generation of Burma. I joined the border school called "Minmahaw Education Foundation" ( Now Minmahaw Higher Education Program, MHEP). This school is initially formed for the children of political prisoners and whoever is relatives of Burmese political activists both inside and outside of Burma. This school aimed to rebuild the failed state Burma in the future.At least,the students are committed to do something good for Burmese people as well as all human beings. The humanity spirits were nurtured in particular lessons from this school.For example,when i was in Burma, i wanted to be a judge. I want to make decision fairly and equally due to the experiences with my father's imprisonment for unclear laws and regulation . However, when i reached to Minmahaw Education Foundation, i have read many different fields and i decide to focus on my interest which i would like to bring about my career.I find out the other humanity works in the past as well as i hope to continue.Then I changed my mind that i would like to be a social servant.I only wanted to work for the community developments.This is the most significant change for me
let's move about my experiences on the border education. i have witnessed schools in Mae Sot, Tak province, Thailand. Some of them are really large schools which is supported by some NGOs and other individual donors. I attended one of the schools on the border of Thailand and Burma, which is also established purposely for the political prisoner's children in Burma. The founder of the school is one of my father's friends. He flee from Burma after the 1988 demonstration in Burma.My father friends on the border and other parts of the world organized to open this effective school that trained for the certificate called General Education Development (GED).For this reason,the students who have this certificate and the preparation is to get a better education though we are poor and oppressed by the Military Government in Burma.As we are already trained for about 2 years at the school. We are taught by English which we barely understand and i personally was at the level of elementary in the beginning of this school.This school taught so many subjects and other extra necessary activities like sport related and other world related issues. There are so many things which provided by the school. Thai language speaking class is additional skills. Most of the students who graduated from this school usually have a chance to study at the different universities in Thailand. Majority of the students win full scholarships and attend at the international university. Sometimes like me i have to come Bangladesh to get the international university education. Some of my friends are studying at the universities in the Philippines, Hong Kong and more other countries.
The education on the border was a precious treasure for me. I never have a strong education like that before.The AUW becomes the second one in my life. The Border education is more related with my country. We did so many things such as visiting and do some encouraging works and community supports at the Burmese Orphanage schools, HIV/ AIDS diseased people, Migrant Workers and other Burmese people who are terribly poor. Students from my school, including me helped with the community anything we can even though we are also living with the helps of others.I have also found out there are so many revolutionist from Burma. They are not allowed to go back home while the complicated politics is going on in Burma. There are so many interested issues that i would even want to learn from Camps that i only heard while studying on the Border.For me, i even think that this area of Thailand is completely Burmese community. Only a few people found within the community even speak Burmese for their making Business. While studying we also learned about the history of Burma and all the updated world issues and we did a lot of discussion which nurtured me as a person who is eager to participate in the discussion whenever there is a serious discussion.I found my interest of reading in so many fields. I gain the basic knowledge of Education and Education becomes my life after attending a school on the Border of Thailand and Burma.
